Short Term Rental Standards

The current bylaw does not specifically regulate short-term rentals. The proposed Zoning Bylaw would identify them as discretionary uses where listed and allow Council to consider occupancy, bedrooms, parking, wastewater capacity, operator contact information and operating standards. The goal is to recognize short-term accommodation while addressing impacts that can arise in residential and lakeshore areas. A discretionary-use process also provides public notice and an opportunity for Council to apply lawful conditions based on the site and surrounding area.
