Who Makes Development Decisions

Date:
Who Makes Development Decisions

The proposed Zoning Bylaw would clarify when a development permit is required and who makes each decision. The Development Officer would administer permitted uses that meet the bylaw’s requirements. Council would continue to decide discretionary uses and zoning amendments after the required public hearing process. Clearer authority helps applicants understand what information is needed, improves consistency and keeps policy decisions with Council. A discretionary use is not automatically approved or refused—it is considered on its merits and may include conditions permitted by law.
